 Communication Nukes

Being blessed with an extraordinary communication skills and charisma is good right ?

BUT, What if, it came paired with low moral values and ethics ? That makes it “Communication Nukes” as I phrase it ….they become a menace to the people around, and to the society at large.

Truth is stranger than Fiction. As much as a cliche it sounds, it continues to be so true, again and again.

Look at this. A 18 yr old Stanford dropout set out to start a company that was to revolutionize the medical industry that would make blood testing quicker and faster, with just one finger prick of blood.

She had assembled a very impressive board, that contained George Schultz, former Secretary of State; Henry Kissinger, Richard Kovacevich, former CEO of Wells Fargo to name just a few. Backed by investors as Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle Corp.

Rupert Murdoch has invested $125 MM in this company, and Walton Family (Walmart) too had invested $150 MM in it.

She was featured in Fortune Magazine cover. At that point, her company was valued at about $9B dollars. And became a celebrity, sometimes hailed as the “Female Steve Jobs” , and featured in various magazines thereafter, gave TED talk, interviews etc.

There was one thing that was amiss here. She #never truly had a breakthrough-product as she claimed. Not even close to it. It was a pack of lies and deceit. All her narrative was one big charade.

What is more preposterous is — she succeeded in piloting her so-called product (that never was) live at some of WalGreens stores ! How did WalGreen company NOT see through this , detect this ?

Where was their due-diligence ??? Insanely unbelievable.

Raises several questions in many areas. Want to dwell into those in my subsequent posts. But here, bring the focus back to the perils of individuals low on values, being empowered with such “Communication Nukes”.

This is an incredible, baffling story… a true story that unraveled not too long ago. This book is one of the 2019 best seller, authored by a WSJ reporter
